Tears Over Omelette

I got a message today from a listener saying that her husband was making breakfast this morning as he listened to my newest album These Saints.

And he shed some tears over the omelette.

In fact I’ve received quite a bit of feedback over the last week since the release of These Saints. And (almost) without fail, y’all are telling me that you’re crying. So glad someone has joined me in sheding these tears.

I’ve received a myriad of responses in these six years of recording music — from mothers in labor, to mothers with empty arms, to patients walking through a cancer journey, to children by the bedside of a dying parent, to single parents grappling with shattered dreams. From one broken heart to another, the music has been a conduit through which God’s grace can flow. And I am humbled.

A perfect stranger walked up to me after a service last year and told me that my music had been “mind-saving” for her when she had gone through a protracted period of excruciating physical pain. She stood and quoted line after line of my own words back to me, “If it pleases Him to bruise me/ If He desires to make me trust…” I was humbled and had little response in return. I don’t know what it is to live with mind-altering physical pain.

Another listener told me that they played a single song of mine on repeat for 4-5 hours on a road trip, trying to come to terms with the words and what they might mean.

Whether it be omelettes or road trips or bedsides or gravesides, I have been overwhelmed over and over by the places that these prayers and journal scrawls of mine have reached to places I could not reach on my own.

Often times it’s been you — my listeners and readers — who have shared the music with someone who in turn shared it with someone, and before long, the music has been on the other side of the world (literally).

I encourage you to share it again. Whether you loan your CD out to a friend or fellow church goer, get an extra copy to give as a gift, or simply share the teaser video in a text or on social media, you are a vital link in helping other broken hearts sense this grace.

Some have been asking about the availability of These Saints on digital download and streaming platforms — that process is in the works and should be finalized shortly. I will send an email with all the links once it’s out for digital distribution. Right now digital downloads are available on CD Baby (the company who manages my digital distribution).

For now, keep listening and sharing. Thank you for joining me on this journey. I could not do it without linking arms with you.

Also, in light of the recent supply/demand for toilet paper, every order you place will come with a complimentary square of toilet paper for every CD you purchase (for example, 4 CDs = 4 squares of toilet paper). Deal?
